129 SW BROADWAY

I don’t know if there are any plans in the works to demolish this 100+ year old building at 129 SW Broadway but thought I would like to document her while she still stands. I live a few blocks away now and walk by her several times a week. My heart always swells with longing. She was the former home of beloved Mary’s Club as well as Tugboat Brewery and the Stewart Hotel. Mary’s is doing fine in the new location down the street but I miss ducking into the dark, dusty confines of the old spot for a quick one. I always liked to grab a stool at the end of the long bar near the cigarette machine and Voodoo Priestess painting. I hope that, when they tear her down and build condos, the ghosts of the Stewart Hotel occasionally make their presence know to the new residents.
